Workshop: Quilted Identities
Als queere Menschen entscheiden wir uns bewusst dafür, durch unseren oft unkonventionellen Kleidungsstil sichtbar oder unsichtbar zu sein. Aber was sind die Symbole, mit denen wir uns verbinden? Selbst Symbole, die vielleicht unsichtbar sind, können viel über unsere Identität verraten.
In diesem Workshop sind alle eingeladen, gemeinsam ein tragbares Quiltsegment zu gestalten, das zusammengefügt oder am Körper getragen werden kann. Bringt eigene Stoffe, Fäden, Farben und Stempel, Stoffmarker und andere Materialien mit, um das Stück zu verschönern. Gestaltet euer Stück mit Worten, Symbolen und Bildern, die eure individuellen und gemeinschaftlichen Werte, eure Theorie zu Veränderungen und eure aktivistische Ausrichtung zum Ausdruck bringen.

Theodorus Johannes (they/them) ist Textilkünstler*in, Forscher*in, Geschichtenerzähler*in und arbeitet mit Dokumentarfilm und Handarbeit. Mit Berichten, die sich auf Mode und Textilien als komplexe und kraftvolle Form der Kommunikation konzentrieren, werden Themen wie Identität und Authentizität in their Werk hinterfragt und untersucht. Their Arbeit ist oft ein Plädoyer für Vielfalt und soziale Intervention. Indem Theodorus Johannes sich aktiv an dieser Forschung beteiligt, schafft they Raum für Autonomie und begegnet kulturellen Normen mit Neugier. Gemeinschaft, Folklore und Handarbeit stehen in theirkünstlerischer Praxisim Mittelpunkt.

Workshop: Quilted identities
As queer people, we choose deliberately to be visible or invisible via our often idiosyncratic clothing styles. But what are the symbols that we affiliate ourselves with. Symbols that are maybe invisible, but that can reveal a lot about our identity.
For this workshop, all are invited to join in crafting a wearable quilt segment, which can be joined together or worn on your body. Bring your own fabrics, threads, paints and stamps, fabric markers, and other materials with which to embellish your piece. Using words, symbols, and imagery, design your segment to speak about your individual and community values, your theory of change, and your alignment within activism(s).

Theodorus Johannes (they/them) is a textile artist, researcher and storyteller working in documentary film and needlework. With reports that concentrate on fashion & textiles as a complex and powerful form of communication, themes such as identity and authenticity are questioned and examined within their body of work. Their work often functions as a plea for diversity and social intervention. Actively participating in their research, Theodorus Johannes makes way for autonomy and embraces cultural norms with curiosity. Community, folklore and needlework are central in their art practice.
